Day 1 – Geisha Dinner

Be enchanted by geisha performances featuring traditional dance, shamisen music, and ozashiki-asobi (traditional games with Geisha). End the night at Otonari, a 140-year-old building designated as a Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property, where history and modern luxury intertwine.

Day 2 – Niigata City

Awaken to a peaceful morning in Niigata and visit Hakusan Shrine, a revered sacred site rich in history. Explore the vibrant Pierbandai Fish Market and enjoy stunning views from the iconic Bandai Bridge. Discover Niigata’s past at the City History Museum, then stop by Isetan, a famous high-end department store known for its selection of premium local goods, where you can find unique Niigata omiyage (gifts) to bring home. Conclude with a short visit to Ponshukan’s sake vending machine before heading to Niigata Station, taking with you cherished memories of the city’s elegance and charm.

Day 1 – Unazuki onsen

宇奈月温泉

Begin your journey at Kurobe-Unazukionsen station before taking a private car to discover the town of Unazuki Onsen. Learn about the history of the Kurobe Dam, the largest dam in Japan, and ride the Kurobe Gorge Railway to the power station. Along the way take a short hike through the mountains to a natural open-air hot spring for bath!

Day 2 – Inami

井波

Nestled in the foothills of Mt. Yaotome, Inami is a place rich with craftsmanship and history. Known throughout Japan for their intricate woodcarving, Inami is home to around 200 artisans. Visit the Zuisenji Temple, one of the largest wooden temples in Japan adorned with beautiful carvings with a history dating back to 1390. At night, stay in a former artisan’s house and enjoy a workshop with a local craftsman to make your own creation.

Day 3 – Gokayama

五箇山

Gokayama, located in Toyama, is a picturesque village known for its traditional thatched-roof houses, which are designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Delve into the local culture by participating in making washi paper and making sasara, the traditional instrument used in the village’s folk dances.

Day 4/5 – Kanazawa

金沢

On your first day in Kanazawa explore the towns samurai district, famous Omicho fish market, and Kenroku-en, one of Japan’s three most famous gardens. Paint your own Kutani ceramic teacup in “Kanazawa-nuri” style, layering on colors in a technique similar to Japanese lacquerware.

On your second day, dive into the rich history of Higashi-chaya, Kanazawa’s geisha district. Learn to play the shamisen at a maker’s workshop, enjoy a tea ceremony from a master, making your own wagasa umbrella, and then in the evening see all those combine at a private performance with geisha.

Day 6 – Yamanaka Onsen

Begin your journey with a hands-on wood bowl turning experience at Rokuro-no-Sato, where you’ll craft your own masterpiece under the guidance of skilled artisans. Stroll through the charming village and take in the scenic beauty of Kakusenkei Gorge, stopping for riverside tea at Kakusenkei Kawado near the iconic Awatori Bridge. As night falls, immerse yourself in the world of sake at Sake Bar Engawa, where you can savor a carefully curated selection of local brews. Retreat to the serene luxury of Japanese style ryokan, renowned for their impeccable hospitality, gastronomy and tranquil hot spring baths.

Day 7 – Return

On your last day, take a first-class bullet-train back to Tokyo or take a private car to Kyoto to continue your journey.
